AFC Bournemouth Donates £1000 to STARS Dorset Children and Young People Service

STARS Dorset receives £1000 from AFC Bournemouth

STARS Dorset are delighted to receive £1000 from AFC Bournemouth’s half time Cherries Community Draw. The much needed funds will be spent specifically on the work the charity does with Children and Young People across the county.

STARS Dorset provides dedicated counselling and a specialist Independent Sexual Violence Advisor (ISVA) service specifically for Children and Young People in Dorset who have experienced sexual violence. The Children and Young People ISVAs provides impartial information to the young person, their families or carers about their options. The Children and Young People Counselling Service provides a safe and confidential environment where a young person can talk about their feelings and the impact of their experience. All of the charities services are free so donations such as these are a huge benefit to the work the charity does.

Claire Beare, one of the Children and Young People’s ISVAs added ‘We are thrilled to receive the cheque from AFC Bournemouth. Our Children and Young People service is growing year on year and all the support we provide we provide for free so any donation is hugely welcome so we can continue to work with those in Dorset that need it.’

AFC Bournemouth’s half time Cherries Community Draw gives supporters the chance to win cash prizes while helping the local community through the Cherries Community Fund. At each home game, supporters can purchase tickets, priced at £1 to go into a draw to win prizes.

The Fund, set up by the club, has provided financial assistance to projects that help to develop young people and vulnerable groups, or those that promote sport and a healthy lifestyle in the area of Dorset.
