If you visit Tesco Poole – Fleets Corner for your grocery shop, make sure to pick up a blue token and vote for STARS Dorset at the voting station next to the exit — we’re in the running to win a grant of up to £1,500 from the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme!

Tesco, in partnership with Groundwork UK, offers grants to schools and charities to help give children across the UK a stronger start in life with food and activities that support young people’s physical health and mental wellbeing. Tesco’s Stronger Starts scheme has already provided over £155 million in donations to more than 65,000 projects across the country.

Every three months, three causes are chosen and put to the vote in their local store; STARS Dorset is up alongside two other charities, Life Education Wessex & Thames Valley and University Hospitals Dorset NHS Charity.

The cause with the most votes will win the full £1,500 grant, whilst second place will receive £1,000 and third will receive £500.

Whatever amount of funding we receive will be used to purchase HappySelf Journals for our Children and Young People (CYP) clients to support them with their emotional resilience and wellbeing whilst they’re on the waiting list for support from our trauma-informed CYP counselling service.

Winning the vote and securing the £1,500 donation would enable us to purchase HappySelf Journals for 120 children and young people on the waiting list; £1,000 would afford us 80 journals; and £500 would mean we could buy 40 — which is why we’re asking our supporters to vote for STARS Dorset to increase our chances of earning the highest grant amount.

Tesco Poole – Fleets Corner is just a 5-minute drive or a 15-minute walk from our Stanley House office in Poole, so, if you visit the store, please pick up a blue token from the checkout and use it to vote for STARS Dorset so we can help more young survivors manage their emotional wellness to benefit them on their journey to recovery.

Other Tesco stores in the Poole area may also offer the chance to vote for STARS Dorset; if you spot a Stronger Starts vote for STARS Dorset at your local supermarket, please send us a picture along with the location to fundraising@starsdorset.org so we can share the information with our community and boost the likelihood of providing 120 children and young people with a fantastic therapeutic tool to support their wellbeing.
